The nylon fabric based pantyhose widely introduced in the late 1960's caused an upsurge of women's illness such as inflammation of the bladder and other types of illnesses. A study in the early 1970's at a medical school in Japan reported that this new trend of women's illness was attributed to the nature of the nylon fabric. The fabric caused perspiration due to the lack of airing, and was highly susceptible to the outside temperature, especially the cold weather. These different environments caused harmful effects on the pelvis. Furthermore, the fabric used in those days easily generated static electricity from the fabric friction that created when women walked in the office or outside. The effect of static electricity made the nylon based pantyhose susceptible to collecting microscopic dusts with germs, in turn affecting the upsurge of the new type of women's bladder related illnesses.

With experience in the development of undergarment fabrics over 20 years
with a leading textile company in Japan, Mr. Yoshihiro Tsuchiya set his
sights on developing a fabric for undergarments that overcome the problems
stated above. In 1978, Mr. Tsuchiya established YOU Co., Ltd. in Kyoto
as a manufacturer and distributor of women's health undergarments with
a newly developed fabric and design of his own
(see belove "ABOUT US").

| The product line was later expanded to include men's undergarments. Among the variety of undergarments offered by the company, one of the original product that has contributed to the company's growth is the patented (3 patents) "pelvis correction belt" (i.e., KOSHI-LUCK.) This product remains in high demand to this day. Mr. Tsuchiya was awarded an honorary Ph.D. in Science in 1997 for his study in pelvis related illnesses and the invention of the pelvis correction belt (i.e., KOSHI LUCK.) |
